Jennifer Senick (columbo@vt.edu):
Contrary to the other reviews, I actually enjoyed this dark film. Bill finally strays from
the nice, fuzzy, huggable guy I love. Just proves what a talented actor he really is!!

Very funny

Well...um...if you blink you'll miss him. Perhaps not, but Bill didn't really steal the
show, did he. It was good to see him playing a character he probably enjoyed though.
Patricia Marie Jhonsons (Patty13MJon):
I think that it was absolutely exciting!!!!! (I'm only 13 and had seen it) Billy boy stole
the show you moron Loggia! Duh! It seemed like hell and hell put together at first then I
wanted to leave but my brother said that this was a really good movie so I took a gamble
and stayed.I learned to like it.
Thank you for the movie,
Patricia Marie Jhonsons

The Lost Highway kicked major a$$... The only thing that was better was the soundtrack...I
love Marilyn Manson and NIN. After all Trent Reznor did a HELL of a job adding the music
to this movie...It was great.

ES Palmer (elieoran@gte.net):
We had been forewarned about David Lynch's movies and had read reviews (usually negative)
about the film, Lost Highway. We decided to see the film and found that independent
judgement is preferable to the views articulated by 'critics'. While the initial
impression that the sexual encounters were merely gratuitous, with further reflection both
of us realized the essential demonstration was central to the thematic development. Our
assessment of the actors performances follow: Pullman-a superior performance, excellent in
maintaining the character, adequate in stretching the dramatic persona; Arquette-merely
adequate for the role, essentially mediocre; Getty-excellent, considering the challenges
the role required; Loggia and Blake-brilliant and believable in role characterization.
Lynch wrote and directed a film which requires a great deal more than mere viewing in the
hour and one half we spent coming home from the viewing our conversation was devoted
exclusively to an analysis of the story. We developed our own description of Lynch's work.
This film requires thought and reflection. Although this type of film would not be desired
fare for 'entertainment' we were thankful we made the effort to see the film.
Congratulations to all. Well done.
OW
& ES Palmer (elieoran@gte.net) :
We'd like to add to the above comments...when Fred is arrested and suffers the headache in
jail from then on all the activity of the film occurs in his mind. We presume he has gone
'over the edge'. He never nor does his alter ego, Getty, leave the cell. The last shot
with the bright lights is indicative that the jury's verdict--death in the electric
chair--has come true. He is electrocuted. Okay, we may be wrong but ..... I guess we all
write our own story.

The only reason this movie does not get 4 stars is because I am saving a 1/2 star for the
next Lynchian attack. This movie was absolutely incredible and definitely worth the
cognitive stimulation. I saw it 2 days ago and can not stop analyzing and twirling the
symbolisms in my head. I will not reveal my own interpretations because (1) I don't want
to warp anyone else's ability to careen down some wild interpretive "lost
highway" of their own and (2) my interpretation will probably be developing over the
next few months. Anyway, I have been going through the movie as I remember it.....sound
familiar, "I like to remember things my own way. The way I remembered them. Not
exactly how they happened." Anyway, I have been taking parts and taking notes and
musing over the various meanings I attach to various parts of the movie. I love the use of
the red curtains in the beginning and I heard that music they always played in Twin Peaks
when they showed the red curtains.
<~~~~ It was good to see that reference because then I knew I was going to have a good time from that point on in the movie. The movie was an absolutely intense, wide-eyed thriller and the cinematography just absolutely rocked as well as the perfectly keyed soundtrack. I have nothing bad to say about this movie and I will be seeing it once again this weekend. Enjoy everybody.
katy :
I really liked this movie even though I have no idea what it is about. We have come to
expect that from Lynch. Like Blue Velvet you know what happens you just don't know why.
Melissa Bovet (spookymb@san.rr.com):
H is one of those movies that won't leave you alone. I saw it a few days ago and have been
unable to stop thinking about it. You can't really critique or dissect a David Lynch
movie--you just have to experience it. (My husband said it was like having the flu--you
feel bad for awhile, but you live through it.) Sure, the movie is strange, long,
slow-moving, and doesn't make much sense, but that's the whole point of it, IMO! :-) I
wouldn't expect anything less from DL. I never paid much attention to Bill Pullman in his
earlier movies, but I've *definitely* noticed him after seeing LH! One more comment--did
anyone else think that BP looked a bit like Kyle MacLachlan? Maybe it was the Angelo
Badalamente (sp?) music and the red curtains in the bedroom.... Rush to a movie theatre
near you to experience Lost Highway!

The first hour of this movie moved too slow. I walked away having too many unanswered
questions. Bill was certainly his handsome self. I also was quite disappointed when the
movie was released to our are (Pittsburgh, PA) that it only opened in one movie theater -
one in the heart of college town. I'm 40 and I felt like I was sneaking into a theater
that shows pornographic movies. My one star is for Bill.
anastasia (anastasia.b.karlova@nacka.mail.telia.com):
The movie was great! Bill did a great job. He was sooooooo sexy and handsome (as usual).
Well, what can I say, HE stole the show!!!!!
Dorie :
Quite a good movie. I would not call it brilliant (as I would Blue Velvet), but it was not
bad. Plus it has an absolutely amazing soundtrack. However, I am tormented by a thought
that David Lynch has some weird kind of chin fetish - both Kyle MacLachlan and Bill P.
have those strange, prominent chins!!! I did not like B. Getty, but BP was suprisingly!!!
ok.

This movie taught me one very important thing.....avoid D.Lynch movies. I wondered why
there were only 12 people in the theatre the day we saw it and when it ran at our local
theatre it closed after 2 days....no audience. Sorry Mr. Lynch. Maybe some people consider
him a genius. He's a KOOK in my opinion. Never, never again. This movie was a real
horrible horror.
Michael Koll : Come
on you guys and ladies, who gave one star or less for this masterpiece of modern horror...
Just admit that you didn't understand the things you saw. My suggestion: Don' even try to.
Just sit down and relax. I personally just LOVED the combination Lynch/Pullmann. The best
movie I've ever seen in my life. Greetings from Germany.

Richard (kbyte@earthlink.net):
This movie is a modern film masterpiece. I can't get over all of the great performances in
this movie! I also have one thing to say about Lynch, the man sure knows how to put images
on the screen. I am still trying to make sense of the story in general, but that's the fun
of it!
JayKL:
I have to admit that I didn't expect to like the show after reading that Lynch makes
peculiar movies.I watched it and I loved it.I had to see it again and again.Well the movie
wasn't released here in Malaysia so it took awhile before it got here on VCD.I enjoyed the
plot, the soundtrack and I thought that Pullman and Getty gave very impressive
performances.I also believe that the cast was rightly-chosen.An entertaining yet mind
boggling affair.
