"Nervous Ticks"comments & reviews

Alice Zemaitis (azemaiti@staff.uiuc.edu):
This movie was tauted as the first or one of the first to be done in REAL time. Bill Pullman plays York Daley, a man who is in charge of finding missing luggage at the airport. This movie is all about York's last day at his job as he plans on picking up his girlfriend (played by Julie Brown) and getting back to the airport so they can fly off to paradise. He's got exactly one and a half hours to do this and we get to see what happens to York in that hour and a half. One big problem gets in the way. His girlfriend is married and has told her husband all about York, including his name and address. Her husband (played by Peter Boyle who plays Bill Pullman's dad in While You Were Sleeping) is out to kill York. York has to dodge this and many other obstacles on his road to paradise. As usual Bill Pullman is great in this movie and gets to play kind of a somber yet funny guy. The part to watch for in this one that got me rolling is when he is in the kitchen in his girlfriend's house. He is on the phone with a radio station trying to win $100,000.00. If you want to see Bill Pullman in a cute role, see Nervous Ticks. I found this one hard to get a copy of by the way.   Susan :
This movie isn't as bad as some of the other comedies (ie Going Under! ugh!) but not as funny as the better ones (Spaceballs, The Favor). If you like this kind of "man trying to get somewhere but everything gets in his way" comedy, Martin Scorcese's "After Hours" is MUCH better.
